    American artist Sharon Rudahl sits down to talk about the legacy of Paul Robeson, social movement, radicality and the need for an imagination. Describing her life's work, Ms. Rudahl will be in conversation with Princeton High School senior Taylor-Faith McKie as they explore the aesthetics of racial progress now, as has been necessary in the past. We will also get a chance to screen and discuss the short film Two Marches and celebrate the artistry of her graphic novel Ballad of an American: A Graphic biography of Paul Robeson, one of her recent works published by Rutgers University Press.This program is being organized in collaboration with the Princeton Public Library and the Paul Robeson House of Princeton Program Committee. Wednesday, November 3, 2021 from 6p - 7p on Zoom.

    In this lecture, Dr. Jessica L. Fripp, Associate Professor of Art History and Undergraduate and Graduate Coordinator at Texas Christian University, will talk about works of art that provide a view into the less studious side of artists' time in Rome: caricatures. What can these "silly" drawings tell us about life in Rome as a young artist, and the role of friendship and play in academic artistic training? This program will also be livestreamed on the DMA's YouTube channel.

    Dr. Fripp's recent book Portraiture and Friendship in Enlightenment France will be available for purchase at the DMA Store, and a book signing will follow the event on-site.
